Cristiano Ronaldo would not be on the pitch when Juventus face Leece this weekend as revealed by boss, Maurizio Sarri.
The striker who has scored 5 goals in 10 games across all competitions has started all but one match this season. He will be missing in action as according to Sarri would be an opportunity for him to rest.
‘With Cristiano, we speak often,’ he told reporters at his pre-match news conference.
‘Even for him there will be need for rest. We’ll see based on how he’s feeling. I don’t know when, we will decide.
‘Right now we don’t have a lot of options in order to completely rotate the squad. We’ll change things with regards to the conditions of the players.’
The manager also plans to rest veteran centre-back Leonardo Bonucci but that would be in subsequent fixtures.
‘Leonardo Bonucci has played a lot this season and he’s needed to. We’ll see if we can give him a rest over the next few games,’ he added.
Juventus will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the new season when they take on newly-promoted Lecce in matchweek 9 of the 2019-20 Serie A season.
Maurizio Sarri’s side have won nine of their eleven matches in all competitions this season. After beating Bologna 2-1 in the league last week, they sit as leaders on the table with a point ahead of Inter Milan.
The Bianconeri followed it up with another 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow in the UEFA Champions League and will be gunning for another victory on Saturday
