Striker Tammy Abraham Injury Update By Lampard

Chelsea are set to face West Ham without star Striker Tammy Abraham due to a recent injury. Abraham suffered a hip injury during the Blues' Champions League draw with Valencia - and was forced off at half time as he struggled in pain.

But the Blues are still unsure how long the England front man will be sidelined for with hip trouble.

Abraham sat out training at Cobham on Friday and will definitely sit out the meeting with the Hammers at Stamford Bridge.

However, Coach Frank Lampard confirmed that the England striker is unavailable for Saturday's clash at Stamford Bridge in his pre-match press conference but said he still doesn't know how long he will be out for.

'He won't be involved tomorrow and we'll know more by the end of the weekend,' Lampard said.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw at the Mestalla, Abraham downplayed the significance of the injury.

'It's much better. At the time I was fearful of the worst,' Abraham told BT Sport.

'I got in and was able to walk again, move about, so I'm thankful and hopefully it's not too long.

'I hope so [bruising]. I'll have a scan or x-ray tomorrow to see what the news is but hopefully it is just bruising. It was a knee to my hip area, so hopefully it's nothing too serious.'

The 22-year-old had slowly walked off the pitch but needed to be carried on a stretcher to the changing room. He later went to hospital for treatment.

Abraham is Chelsea's leading goalscorer so far this season with 11 goals in 19 games, which has earned him a recall to the England side.
