Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola has issued a warning to his players after their 2-1 comeback win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 game.
Pep Guardiola has warned his Manchester City team that Real Madrid are capable of overturning their first-leg deficit at the Bernabeu.
Also, the Spaniard admitted that City's Champions League progression into the next round is not yet full certain after their recent exists to Liverpool and Tottenham over the last two seasons.
City achieved one of the most shocking results in Europe on Wednesday night as they came from a goal down to defeat 13-time Champions League winners Real at their own stadium in Spain.
Despite defender Aymeric Laporte being forced off with injury in the first half and Isco also putting the hosts ahead after Rodri and Nicolas Otamendi lost possession, Pep Guardiola’s team a perfect response in the Spanish capital.
And a Gabriel Jesus header in the 78 minute brought the game level at 1-1 and five minutes later, Manchester City were now 2-1 ahead after Kevin De Bruyne scored from the penalty spot.
City now have a huge advantage for the second leg at the Etihad on March 17 because Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was sent off for brining down striker Gabriel Jesus.
Pep Guardiola is now keen to win the Champions League for the first time since 2011, having failed to win it in his three seasons at Bayern Munich, while City have never won the tournament.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Guardiola said: “I would say that when they were better, we concede a goal, when we were better, we score a goal .
“That’s how tough it is. That’s football. I remember the quarter-final three years ago when we play at Anfield when we played incredibly well but had only three shots on target and conceded three goals.
“We played with incredibly strength against Tottenham as well, so we have to improve, we cannot give them the goal we concede.
"It's just the first step, it's not over. We'll enjoy the moment!"
A crucial turnaround for Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side.

“The important thing is the way we played very well. We tried to come here to win the game and we did it.
“But this is just the first part, it’s not all three points.
“If there's a team that can overturn this situation with their experience and everything, it’s Real Madrid.
“But of course, it's a great result, we could not score more goals the previous two so we did it. It’s fine.”
