Former Arsenal Coach Unai Emery has aimed a dig at the Premier League club regarding the transfer of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus.
After 11 glorious years at Arsenal, Ramsey left the Gunners and signed for Juventus on a free transfer last summer, with many fans suggesting that Emery was to blame for his departure.
However, Emery has been jobless since leaving Arsenal in November 2019, reveals that he was powerless to prevent Ramsey leaving.
Emery told Tutto Juve: ‘The decision was made by Ramsey and the club.
‘He chose to leave and moved to a bigger team, which has led him to another football
‘Aaron will be very important for Juventus; he has the right and proper ambition.’
Ramsey played 40 matches for Arsenal under Emery and scored six goals, provided eight assists during that time.
However, he found himself mostly on the bench as a substitute which fans suggest made he decide to quit Arsenal.
Now, Unai Emery has aimed a dig at Arsenal by saying that Ramsey is much more likely to win trophies at Juventus.
Emery said: ‘I congratulated him because he chose a great team where he can win everything.
‘Juventus are a big club in European and world football. After staying in England for so long, this is a perfect challenge for him.’
Ramsey’s first season at Juventus has not gone perfectly but his still struggling to main his place in Coach Maurizio Sarri’s starting Line-up.
However, before Serie A games were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Ramsey began to show his quality in recent weeks, scoring in consecutive league matches against SPAL and Inter Milan.
Ramsey’s contract at Juventus expires in the summer of 2023
