The fire surrounding the Borussia Dortmund striker was further stoked by the agent of Erling Haaland, Mino Raiola, saying that four English clubs are on the shortlist of those who can afford their celebrity client; Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are the ones leading for the speculations.
Erling Haaland has been linked with several big clubs since he joined Borussia Dortmund last January. In that time, the striker scored 43 goals for the German giants in the same amount of games.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City are heavily linked with Haaland, not only due to their large transfer and wage budget, but also the player’s link with the club in the form of his dad who played for the Blues between 2000-2003.
Mino Raiola had an exclusive interview with the BBC: “Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Erling Haaland] and give the platform you would like after you’ve been in Borussia Dortmund – and four of those clubs are in [England].”
Popular statistics website Transfermarkt currently values Haaland at over £100 million. However, the Norwegian striker does have a release clause of nearly half that figure, which comes into effect in the summer of 2022.
