Chelsea boss Tuchel on Lukaku comments: I don't like it; it doesn't help

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admit he's upset with Romelu Lukaku after his disparaging interview this week.

The Belgian forward was revealed to have said he was not happy with his situation at Stamford Bridge.

In his pre-Liverpool press conference, Tuchel has now responded to the quotes.

He said: "We don't like it of course because it brings noise we don't need and it is not helpful. We don't want to make more out of it than it actually is.

"It's very easy to take lines out of context, it's very easy to shorten lines, make headlines then later realise it's not so bad and not what he meant.

"Let's be honest, we don't like it, I don't like it because it's noise we don't need. We need a calm environment and focus and that does not help."

However, the German coach does not feel he is unhappy at the club.

He added: "Not at all. I don't feel him unhappy, I feel the exact opposite. If you ask me yesterday morning, I would say I feel the exact opposite that's why it is a surprise but I'm the wrong person to ask."

Tuchel does not believe that Chelsea's form has exaggerated the situation however. The former Borussia Dortmund boss believes the size of the claims are big enough in their own right to cut through.

The 48-year-old said: "Maybe it feels louder but I feel it would be loud anyway with these kind of headlines.

"You cannot win enough to not talk about these headlines in media. Today's world is today's world and everything you say is in public if you're such a big player like Romelu and he's an experienced player and he surely knows what kind of value it has when he speaks out messages like this."
