Former Chelsea star, Glen Johnson, has advised the club to do what they can to keep their defenders, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in particular.
Chelsea are set to lose Rudiger, Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta as free agents at the end of the season.
The Blues are yet to extend the contracts of the four defenders.
But Johnson is now advising Thomas Tuchel’s side that “the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.”
Speaking on the development, Johnson told BoyleSports Football: “For me, the easiest option is to keep the guys that they have got, Christensen and certainly Rudiger has come on under Tuchel.
“You have got two good players there and it’s not easy to just go and buy someone. You have got two players there that know the club, know the league – it can’t be that hard to work out a contract renewal, can it? The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.”
