Chelsea star, Callum Hudson-Odoi, has overtaken the club’s former player Arjen Robben’s record, to become the youngest Blues player to register ten assists in the Premier League.
Hudson-Odoi, 21, won a penalty in the first half of Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day, which made it his 10th Premier League assist since his debut in January 2018.
Robben, meanwhile, joined Chelsea at the age of 20 and registered nine assists in his first Premier League season before getting his 10th at the start of the 2005/2006 season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, was impressed with Hudson-Odoi after Chelsea defeated Aston Villa at Villa Park.
“I think he was brilliant [against Aston Villa],” Tuchel said at his post-match press conference.
“I was never frustrated with him today. He had one bad decision under pressure when he tried to do a back-heel in front of the coaching staff, maybe there was an easier solution to escape the pressure with an easy pass, there was a clear pass to NG [N’Golo Kante]. But I was never frustrated with him today.
“Hakim Ziyech has only one training session, Callum had two and a half, so we decided to put him in.
“He was involved. He overcame some obstacles today and some adversity. There was a big game, a very important game for him.”
“Also, we took a risk because he only just came back from Covid.”
Hudson-Odoi will hope to continue his impressive display for Chelsea when they face Brighton on Wednesday in their next game.
