The report claims new United manager Erik ten Hagwants to bring the striker with him from Ajax as his first signing.
The West Ham flop has scored 31 goals in 35 games in all competitions this season for the Dutch side.
But he is now reportedly being viewed by Dortmund as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland, who looks set to join Manchester City this summer.
