EPL: ‘No, I want to win trophies’ – Roy Keane mocks Man United over move to sign Rudiger from Chelsea

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has mocked the club over their push to sign Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea.

Keane admitted that he was not surprised that the Germany international turned down the opportunity to move to Old Trafford.

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Rudiger has decided to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The German has played a key part in the current Chelsea side under Tuchel and has not been short of offers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Reports in Europe suggest the 29-year-old would be moving to Real Madrid, but it is no longer news that Manchester United made an approach for the Chelsea defender.

But United legend, Keane wondered how Manchester United would have thought Rudiger could move to Old Trafford instead of Real Madrid.

Asked how big of a loss Rudiger will be for Chelsea, Keane told Sky Sports: “Huge loss, huge loss, obviously for what he does on the football pitch.

“He’s going to be a big loss to them. He’s been outstanding this season, the fact his contract’s been up.”

When asked if he felt the Red Devils hierarchy should have tried to sign Rudiger, Keane replied, “I guess they probably did try to approach him.

“I think they have done but he’s thought, ‘no, I want to win some trophies’.”
