Injury-depleted Man United tackle Chelsea at Old Trafford

Manchester United will look to keep their fading hopes of a top-four Premier League finish alive when they host Chelsea at the Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Last weekend, the Red Devils were defeated 3-1 by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Chelsea, on the other hand, heads into the game in a boisterous mood after edging out fellow Londoners, West Ham United 1-0, with substitute Christian Pulisic scoring a last-gasp winner.

The Blues will be more confident of picking their first victory at Old Trafford since 2013 going by United’s poor form and injury crisis.

Ralf Ragnick’s men have amassed a paltry four points from 15 on offer since the start of the month.

United have also lost three of their last four games, which has put them at the risk of dropping out of European places entirely.

The former Premier League champions, who currently occupy the sixth position on the log will be without captain Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho, Edison Cavani and Fred for the game.

Defender Aaron Wan Bissaka is a major doubt for the game.

For Chelsea, a win in this game will see them open an eight-point gap to fourth-placed Arsenal and give Thomas Tuchel’s side a healthy advantage before meeting Leeds United, Everton, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford before the season is done and dusted.

The West London side will welcome Toni Rudiger and Reece James back from injury, while Andreas Christensen returned to training on Wednesday after missing the West Ham United clash due to illness.
