Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has said that whoever goes through to the Champions League final between his side and Villarreal deserves it.
Klopp was pleased with the performance of his players after they beat the Spanish club 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday to put a leg in the final.
Liverpool eased to a two-goal advantage thanks to an own-goal from Pervis Estupinan and a Sadio Mane strike two minutes later.
The second leg comes up on Tuesday and Klopp believes his Liverpool side could still be beaten in Spain by the Yellow Submarines who could not cause any threat at Anfield.
The German, addressing a post-match press conference, said his side should not celebrate yet because nothing has happened, insisting that Unai Emery’s men could still turn the table.
“Two-nil on aggregate but it is half time. No more, no less,” the German said.
“Nothing has happened yet. If you play a game and are 2-0 at half time, you have to be 100 per cent on alert.
“We know we will go there and it will be a tricky atmosphere for us. If they beat us 2-0 over there and go to the final, they deserve it. If they don’t, we deserve it,” he stated.
