Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Mauro Icardi this summer from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentina attacker is not in favour at the Parisien club, who are hoping to offload him as soon as possible.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal were scouring the market for a forward earlier in the window, Icardi was mentioned to them.
However, manager Mikel Arteta decided against pursuing a deal for Icardi.
Arsenal wanted a more well-rounded forward, and settled on Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.
They got their man, which ended any chance of signing Icardi.
