China's Rupert Murdoch resigns as City Football Group director

 


A businessman known as 'China's Rupert Murdoch', also a major shareholder at Manchester City's ownership group, has stepped down from his director's job.

Li Ruigang was a director at City Football Group, but he has now left that position, per a document filed with the Companies House.

CMC Holdings, of which he is chairman, initially invested in City Football Group in a $400 million deal.

City Football Group is majority owned by Newton Investment and Development LLC, with both companies registered in Abu Dhabi.

The companies are owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

City have not commented on the matter at present, per the Manchester Evening News.
