Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness has hit out at Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly, insisting that the west London club are set for a difficult period under his regime.
Souness also said that Chelsea would miss out on the Premier League top-four this season under the leadership of Boehly, who he said knows nothing about football.
Chelsea are currently in the eighth position on the Premier League table with 24 points.
They will face Nottingham Forest at City Ground in their next game on New Year’s Day.
Assessing the top-four race for The Mail, Souness wrote: “Finally, Chelsea. What’s going on there?
“They won’t make the top four. Alarm bells started ringing for me when Todd Boehly came in and took control of football decisions.
“They went from having an executive team of Bruce Buck, Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia and a serial winner in Thomas Tuchel as manager to an American owner who knows nothing about football, or even soccer.
“Everything I see and hear tells me this is going to be a difficult period for Chelsea.”
