Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has named the club’s fourth captain.
The manager and club’s legend Xavi confirmed goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is the Catalan’s new fourth captain.
Gerard Pique’s retirement created the vacancy for the armband and the German goalkeeper has now been assigned the role.
The Catalan boss spoke highly of the goalkeeper and his attitude in the dressing room.
According to Xavi, the German deserves the honour.
“Barça’s fourth captain is now Marc-André ter Stegen. He’s been here for many years, he has an influence in the dressing room and I think it’s his turn. He deserves it,” Xavi said, according to Reshad Rahman:
Ter Stegen will join Sergio Busquets and his two deputies Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba in the captaincy group.
