Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Kylian Mbappe has said that it would be impossible for him to get over the 2022 FIFA World Cup final defeat to Lionel Messi and his Argentina teammates.
Mbappe said this after helping PSG beat Strasbourg 2-1 on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old scored a hat-trick at the World Cup final but it was not enough to hand France a hack-to-back World Cup trophy.
Messi led Argentina to a 4-2 win on penalties after the full-time and extra-time ended in a 3-3 draw.
Mbappe finished the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign the highest goalscorer with eight goals and won the FIFA Golden Boot ahead of Messi.
Mbappe started for PSG, saving their blushes with a 96th-minute penalty.
“I think I’m never going to get over it,” Mbappe told the reporters.
Mbappe added that he told his teammates that he did not think it was fair for PSG to suffer because of France’s heartbreak.
“As I said to my teammates, there is no reason why the club should pay the price for the failure of the national team, they are two very different situations,” the 24-year-old continued.”
