Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has insisted that he ‘is not worried’, adding that he took the job knowing the team was in jeopardy.
Lampard said this despite suffering a fifth straight defeat since he took over the Blues on an interim basis.
The Blues suffered another defeat in the midweek, losing 2-0 to Brentford to extend their poor run to a single goal scored in the last seven games.
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan had advised the former Everton boss to leave the Chelsea job, insisting that the club’s owners, Todd Boehly and Co had brought him in in order to ridicule him.
Also, a former Premier League forward, Darren Bent said the former England midfielder might be ending his managerial career if he fails to remedy the situation at Chelsea.
And ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, the former Chelsea and England star was asked whether he was worried about the impact the club’s current demise might have on his reputation.
“I took [the job] on knowing the jeopardy of what it might be, but I’m very proud to manage here.
“People will perceive you in a different way anyway. In the short-term, I’m not worried. I want to win games, that’s clear. But I understand the problems as to why we’re probably not winning games,” he said.
