EPL: Silva reveals mistake Mikel Arteta made in Arsenal’s 4-1 defeat to City

Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva has revealed the very mistake Mikel Arteta made that led to Arsenal’s 4-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s men in midweek.

According to Silva, Mikel Arteta’s employment of man-to-man marking played into City’s hands during Wednesday’s Premier League crunch game at the Etihad.

Arsenal are still two points above the reigning champions but the Citizens have two games in hand and would win the league just by winning their remaining matches.

Mikel Arteta used the same tactics in February’s FA Cup defeat and Silva said it was a mistake for the Gunners’ boss not to change his gameplan in midweek.

The Portuguese midfielder told reporters, “We knew that they could come [playing] man-to-man, and we tried to stretch them as much as possible because if they play man-to-man against us they have to deal with Kevin [De Bruyne] and Erling [Haaland] up front. It’s never going to be easy in that spot.”
