Wigan Athletic have confirmed the signing of winger Jonny Smith on a two-year deal.
Smith arrives at the DW Stadium following a successful spell with fellow League One outfit Burton Albion and has become Shaun Maloney’s latest recruit ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 25-year-old has agreed to link up with Shaun Maloney’s men ahead of the 2023/24 League One campaign, becoming the Football Club’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Bayern Munich defender and Scotland youth international Liam Morrison.
Smith said: “I’m delighted to be here, and it’s a massive opportunity for myself. Wigan is a huge Club, and it shouldn’t be where it is in League One, so I’m excited to get going. It’s a huge honour - and it’s a dream move for myself to play for a Club like this which is so close to home.”
Manager Shaun Maloney said: "I'm very pleased that we have managed to sign Jonny. He has all the attributes that we are looking for in a wide player and also the values that will fit in well with the team and our club. Jonny can play on both sides and will bring speed to our attacking play."
