Victor Osimhen has deleted every image of himself playing for Napoli amid a public spat with the Serie A club.
The centre-forward has been enraged by a video posted on TikTok, mocking the striker for missing a penalty against Bologna.
In the background, a high-pitched voice screamed “gimme penalty please”. A second video was also posted, seemingly comparing the striker to a coconut.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has already claimed that he and his client could pursue legal action against the Serie A club, seemingly confirming that he is almost certain to leave in January. To add further fuel to the fire, the 24-year-old has now scrubbed all mention of Napoli from his Instagram account.
The post has since been deleted.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor,” Calenda wrote on X.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted. A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.”
The Nigeria international was one of the most prolific strikers in Europe last season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions. He had scored three goals in five games for Napoli this term and has been included in the squad for the club’s game against Udinese on Wednesday.
Napoli’s clash with Udinese takes place this evening, although it remains to be seen if Osimhen will be selected.
