Udinese manager, Gabriele Cioffi has confirmed Maduka Okoye will make his Serie A debut against Bologna on Saturday (today).
The Zebras will host Bologna in their final game of 2023 at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Okoye joined Udinese from Sky Bet Championship club, Watford in the summer.
He has made just one appearance for the club in the Coppa Italia.
Cioffi is now prepared to hand the Nigeria international his debut.
“I am delighted to have Marco Silvestri here. He is a top goalkeeper who has been a backbone for the team,” Cioffi told reporters.
“His two stand-ins are also excellent. That is why I have decided to give Maduka Okoye a chance.
“It is a technical decision and I am not throwing anyone under the bus. The position of goalkeeper is the same as any other.”
Okoye was not included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Friday.
