Mark Lawrenson suggests winger Liverpool should sign as Mo Salah’s replacement

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has suggested that the Reds should sign West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield during the summer transfer window.

Though Lawrenson admits that finding a like-for-like replacement for Salah would be difficult, he believes that Bowen’s versatility, goal-scoring ability, and work ethic make him a viable option for the Reds.

Bowen has scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 28 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season.

He has also earned seven caps for England and has shown the ability to play in multiple attacking positions.

Liverpool have been linked with the sale of Salah in the upcoming transfer window, and Lawrenson thinks that Bowen could be a solid addition to the team should the Egyptian leave.

Additionally, Lawrenson recognizes that Liverpool may prioritize signing a new centre-back given their current defensive struggles.

Ultimately, Lawrenson acknowledges that replacing Salah will not be easy, but he views Bowen as a strong candidate to fill the void left by the former AS Roma star should he depart Liverpool.

“Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool is very much a possibility,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power.

“He can play in all three positions across the front line, gets you goals and work hard. You are not going to get another Mo Salah.

“The other thing he gives you is that he works extremely hard defensively – he wasn’t great at it when he joined but he is improved on it. Anyone could join, but I think he will leave – no doubt about that whatsoever.

“As for who replaces him, I’m not sure how much money Liverpool will have. They need another centre-back, and that might be their first priority. It is not just a matter of who replaces Salah for me.
