Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell has opened up on the recent sacking of the club’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Chiwell said he was surprised when he heard the news of Pochettino’s sack but backed the team to do well regardless.
Chelsea are now in the market looking for a manager after Pochettino, was appointed last summer on a two-year deal, was sacked after the last game of the season.
Chelsea finished sixth in the EPL table despite the Argentine enduring a difficult first season.
The news of Pochettino’s sacking came as a shock to many football followers and Chilwell has also admitted that he feels the same way.
He told CFC Daily: “It was definitely a surprise. Whoever does come in I’m sure it’ll go well.”
Chelsea have been linked with several managers such as Kieran McKenna, Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca, and Brentford’s Thomas Frank.
