Man Utd set to sign Janssen on free transfer

Manchester United are set to sign former Arsenal defender Dominique Janssen on a free transfer.

Netherlands international Janssen, 29, spent four seasons with the Gunners before joining Wolfsburg in 2019.

Janssen won two league titles with Wolfsburg and announced in May that she would leave the German club when her contract expired this summer.

She started the Champions League finals in 2020 and 2023 as Wolfsburg were beaten by Lyon and Barcelona respectively.

United have been looking at reinforcements after several injuries to key defenders last season, including Gabby George.

Captain Katie Zelem left the club this week following the expiry of her contract, while forward Lucia Garcia's exit was also confirmed.

Goalkeeper Mary Earps is also set to leave for Paris St-Germain on a free transfer, understood to be a two-year deal, and her United exit is expected to be confirmed on Saturday.

United remain hopeful of signing Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland on a free transfer.
