USMNT star Aidan Morris will make a transatlantic move to join Middlesbrough after completing a summer move from Columbus Crew.
The transfer sees Morris becoming the first homegrown player from the Columbus Crew to join a European club. The deal is reportedly valued at around $4 million (£3m), with Columbus retaining a percentage of any future transfer fees for the midfielder.
Morris' journey with Columbus Crew began in 2017 when he joined the Crew Academy. His talent and hard work quickly earned him a spot on the senior team. The Florida native signed a homegrown contract with Columbus in 2020, debuting impressively in a 4-0 victory over FC Cincinnati. During his rookie season, Morris appeared in 10 games, starting twice under former head coach Caleb Porter.
Notably, he became the youngest player in MLS history to start in an MLS Cup final at just 19 years and 27 days old. Over his tenure with Columbus, Morris made 83 regular-season MLS appearances, including 67 starts, and contributed significantly with six goals and 14 assists.
