Arsenal icon David Seaman has hit out at Leandro Trossard after the Belgian’s muted celebration of his goal against Aston Villa.
Seaman explained why Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta refuses to keep Gabriel Martinelli on the bench in favor of Trossard in his starting XI.
The Gunners were 2-0 better than Aston Villa at Villa Park at the weekend with goals from Trossard and Thomas Partey.
After hitting back of the net Trossard’s celebration was rather muted and Arteta revealed after the game that the Belgian was upset after his exclusion from the starting XI.
Many pundits and Arsenal supporters have argued that Trossard deserves to start ahead of Martinelli but Seaman sees things differently.
The former England goalkeeper said on his podcast (via Metro), “I don’t see what the problem is. There always will be [competition for places]. Even if it’s the other way around, if he [Trossard] starts first, Martinelli would come on.
“I think we all know that on that [left] side, that’s where we have the balance with Trossard and Martinelli. On the right side, we only have Buyako Saka.”
