Rohr reveals player Benin missed during 3-0 defeat to Super Eagles

Benin Republic coach, Gernot Rohr, has insisted that his team missed Mohamed Tijani during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying 3-0 defeat to Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday.

A brace from Ademola Lookman and a strike from Victor Osimhen ensured the Super Eagles defeated Benin at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Rohr said Tijani, who was very important in his team, was injured.

“We didn’t have the same defence. We missed Mohamed Tijani who is a very important player, he was injured,” the German tactician said.

“We don’t have so many big players like you have in Nigeria, that was the difference.”

Benin Republic will clash with Libya on Tuesday in their second group game.

Nigeria, on the other hand, will face Rwanda.
