Ballon d’Or: Iniesta speaks on not winning award during career

Former Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta has said he has no regrets about not winning the Ballon d’Or during his career.

Iniesta is set to retire from football at 40.

It is a career that has seen him win multiple LaLiga titles, one World Cup and two Euros.

However, Iniesta was never recognised as the best footballer on the planet, despite scoring the winner in the 2010 World Cup.

But according to him, he remains proud that he made the Ballon d’Or top three, along with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez.

Iniesta said: “The photo of Leo [Messi], Xavi, and I on the podium of the Ballon d’or is the biggest prize of that day, of that moment. Three guys from La Masia. I think it’s even more than whoever won it.”
