It’s disrespectful – Ex-Arsenal player slams Gabriel for copying Viktor Gyokeres’ celebration

Former Arsenal player, Freddie Ljungberg has hit out at Gabriel Magalhaes for copying Viktor Gyokeres’ celebration during the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League 5-1 win against Sporting CP on Tuesday.

Arsenal defeated Sporting in Portugal, thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.

But Gyokeres, who has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea, struggled against Gabriel and William Saliba during the encounter.

However, Gabriel decided to copy Gyokeres’ celebration by placing his interlocked fingers in front of his face after scoring Arsenal’s third goal

Speaking about the development, Ljungberg was not impressed with Gabriel for his celebration, insisting that it was ‘disrespectful and not necessary.’

“I’m not a fan of it,” Ljungberg told Viaplay.

“Of course, he must have had a lot of talk about playing against Gyokeres and whether he would be able to do it. Then his point in showing that he can handle it is quite simple.

“But I think it’s a bit disrespectful. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I think someone else has that target gesture, leave it alone. I don’t like to see it.”
