Why Cucurella was shown red card after 2-1 win over Brentford – Maresca

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has said Marc Cucurella was sent off at full time against Brentford for bad behaviour.

Cucurella opened the scoring as the Blues beat Thomas Frank’s men 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson doubled their lead, before Bryan Mbeumo pulled one back.

Maresca will however be without Cucurella for their next game, as he will now serve a one-match suspension.

The Spanish full-back did not get booked until stoppage time, when he picked his first yellow card of the match for a foul on Fabio Carvalho.

Cucurella was then sent off after the full-time whistle as he was booked for the second time for shoving Bees forward Kevin Shade.

Maresca told reporters: “I didn’t see the second yellow card. The referee said the second yellow card was for bad attitude. There are things we can do better.”
